The Benzinga Listmakers Series brings together thought leaders to discuss key insights surrounding the latest trends in the fintech community. There will be a discussion about market insights from industry insiders, an overview of what’s new in 2022, and what’s to come in the NFT industry. This year’s panelists have made a big difference in the industry by introducing new NFTs to the market or making these investments more attainable to the average investor.
This event brings together major NFT contributors including top NFT exchanges such as Crypto.com, Dapper Labs, OpenSea; top NFT promoters Gary Vee/VaynerNFT, Hunter Orrell, and Ja Rule; and top NFT projects including Axie Infinity, Timbaland’s Beatclub platform, CryptoPunks, etc. Upstream’s thought leadership panel will explore how the music and film industries are using NFTs to drive fan engagement and what it means for Web 3.0.
An Important Discussion
Non-fungible tokens “NFTs” quickly became a household acronym with interesting developments happening across a plethora of industries.
The curiosity surrounding NFTs has uniquely broken out of the crypto bubble we find digital currencies, DeFi, and other blockchain innovations stuck in.
NFTs, bring with them a sense of familiarity and community, which, combined with the emerging trend of creators and end-users taking back ownership in the digital world, has created a fast-moving company wave of adoption.
NFTs continue to make headlines selling for thousands or millions in 2021 alone. The total trading volume across 14 NFT marketplaces, including OpenSea, Rarible, Axie Infinity, SuperRare, NBA Topshot, rose from $85.7 million in 2020 to $19.6 billion in 2021.¹
We’re seeing NFTs that look like digital trading cards, memes, videos, NFTs that act as social status symbols on social media platforms, tickets or unlock membership, even NFTs that give back to charity.
An amazing example of this is Women Rise. A 10,000 arbitrarily produced collection by the universally acclaimed visual craftsman Maliha Abidi. The objective of the collection is to make the NFT space more diverse and comprehensive by establishing more women characters as well as proceeds going to funds whose priorities are gender equality, girls’ schooling, and the emotional well-being of marginalized groups.
These days fundamentally anything can be transformed into and sold as an NFT. We’re just at the beginning of digital merchandise and NFTs reaching our everyday lives. Integrating NFTs with music and film represents a revolutionary next step to empower creators and bring more immersive fan engagement experiences to fans. In this exclusive panel, we’ll explore this new frontier with those at the forefront of this digital revolution.
